Case Study Research

In 2004, statistical results of Dr. DiEdwardo’s case study research suggest that pairing music and linguistic intelligences in the college classroom improves students’ grades and abilities to compose theses statements for research papers in courses that emphasize reading and writing skills (DiEdwardo 2004).   In initial study in 2003, Maryann refined Howard Gardner’s (1993) definition of music as a “separate intellectual competence” and compared music intelligence to linguistic intelligence. Furthermore, through acknowledgement of MI Theory, educators infuse cognitive abilities of students by helping them “think” as one of her students suggested.  Her article, “Pairing Music and Linguistic Intelligences”  was published in the Record, Vol. 41, No. 3, Spring 2005.   Kappa Delta Pi, International Education Honors Society.

Dr. Maryann DiEdwardo writes about Practices to Heal

This week, I am writing about the arts as healing. Engage in writing a nature journal or taking a walk to collect photos as themes for watercolors.

I write books about music and healing.

While you are walking, listen to favorite melodies if possible or hum these! Music changes us as does nature and change of thought pattern.

Have a great day

Session 1 - Efficacy of Qigong Practice as a Treatment for Vertigo - Maryann DiEdwardo

 Initial Abstract and Proposal
The Efficacy of QiGong Practice as a Treatment for Vertigo

Case Study on a Single Patient by Dr. Maryann DiEdwardo

Practicing QiGong cures weakened vestibular sense, vertigo.  QiGong practice can control and cure the symptoms associated with inner ear infection and severe vertigo. Practice includes QiGong therapy, QiGong meditation, QiGong balance lessons and QiGong walking meditations as well as sequences based on QiGong five treasures. From August 29, 2011 to November 4th, 2011, I suffered from extreme vertigo and applied QiGong as a therapy. The purpose of the case study on one patient was to understand why I regained balance and full functioning of the vestibular sense by practicing QiGong three times per day over a period of one year.
