Day 4
Diet for Yoga
Vegetarian
Practice one half hour of meditation in a seated pose. Use an internal sound such as a favorite Psalm.
Use care to eat whole foods.
Our digestive system uses the food we eat to produce a biochemical called ojas. If the digestive process is stressed by too many animal products, the incompletely digested portion of the meal forms a sticky, toxic substance called ama. The opposite of ojas, ama blocks the flow of the body's balance.
Toxins then form in areas of the body that are out of balance, taking on many forms, such as calcium deposits in the joints, plaque in the arteries, and cysts and tumors. A coated tongue, bad breath, dullness of the senses, depression, and unclear thinking can indicate the presence of ama.
Maryann is known as a landscape painter. Recent works include the 36”x 36”oil painting entitled "Millbrook Marsh #1 for Joseph Pasda” for the collection at Millbrook Marsh Environmental Center State College; twelve prints presented to New Presbyterian Weill Cornell Hospital, 525 E. 68th Program 2007 and St. Luke’s Cancer Center, Bethlehem, PA 2009; The Pennsylvania State University Lehigh Valley Campus Fogelsville “The Promise of Penn State” Exhibition January 2008.
